TANK: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Raheel Sharif on Thursday said the world had recognised Pakistan’s contributions in the fight against terrorism and had sought to learn from its experiences.

Addressing tribal elders after the inauguration of a building of the Cadet College, Spinkai, in South Waziristan Agency, the COAS paid tribute to soldiers and tribesmen for defeating terrorists and flushing them out from their hideouts.

The United Arab Emirates government financed the building project. 11th Corps Commander Lt Gen Hidayatur Rehman and a large number of tribal elders attended the ceremony.

Talking to elders and cadets, Gen Raheel said that the future of the country could only be secured through an educated and passionate youth, adding that it was imperative to raise their potential to the optimal level.

He said the new cadet college would go a long way in meeting the needs of the region’s youth and enabling them to realise their potential.

The COAS thanked the local tribes for donating land for the college and expressed gratitude towards the UAE for financing the project.
