ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz on Friday requested Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) — commonly known as “Doctors Without Borders” — to immediately provide medical assistance to thousands of people injured in India-held Kashmir due to state aggression by Indian forces.
The foreign affairs adviser made the formal request by writing a letter to the international president of MSF, highlighting the state of medical emergency in India-held Kashmir, said a statement issued by the foreign ministry.
It further notified MSF that the emergency situation in held Kashmir developed as a “result of the atrocious Indian brutalities against unarmed and defenseless civilians”.
Aziz particularly emphasised the urgent need of eye surgeons, as hundreds of people were suffering from severe eye injuries caused by the use of pellet guns on peaceful protesters.
India-held Kashmir's main hospitals are struggling to treat hundreds of patients wounded in clashes with Indian forces, and many injured people have lost their eyesight from shotgun injuries.
Dr. Kaisar Ahmad, Principal at Government Medical College Srinagar, said that hundreds of people had been treated for pellet injuries since July 9 when violence broke out in Kashmir during protests sparked by the death of a separatist militant.
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh had asked security forces to refrain from using pellet guns against protesters.

Although I am not a PML-n fan, this is a good move by Sartaj Aziz, although a little late in coming. He should also write letters to Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch to investigate Kashmiris' killings in detention by Indian Occupation forces, raping of women, and disappearances of Kashmiri youth and report as to whether their policies and indiscriminate torture amount to War Crimes according to international definitions.

@Mahmood (he) who set the agenda (often) wins the negotiation. Indians have reached many places of influence globally - UN WB US Govt [head of US Aid, Presidents IT adviser, NIST director, ARPA-e head, etc], and their biases often show in the policies of these entities. Pakistanis in general are either too involved in the personal well being [ie material well being] that they have ignored reaching policy positions.

Yes Akash India must revisit Art 370 of its Constitution ,and for immediately relief Kashmiris & delete the amendment of 1965,and revive Art 370 to its original text written by Shaikh Abdullah,where there was a provision of PM and President in Kashmir, this will atleast let feel more autonomy to Kashmiris.And later by continuing talks within 4 stakeholders you can find amicable solution.4 stake holders could of AJK, IHK,Pak & India.

@Lafanga as an Indian I do feel bad for the current scenario. A long term solution needs to be found. But it will need time. No Indian govt will handover kashmir in today's scenario. It will be political suicide for that party. We will need at least 20 years of peace between ind-pak for any govt to think of it so that the people of India are ok with it. If people think jingoism is gonna help, they are mistaken.
I feel if Pakistan was not involved in Kashmir we could have sorted out the issue, NE India had secessionist movements, now many have said down arms and region is largely at peace.

Contrary to what is being portrayed here, nothing stops the Kashmiri from travelling to any other part of India to avail of medical assistance, if he/she so wishes. Meanwhile as pointed out, the government has flown in top experts and has provided equipment & medicines to the local hospitals in Kashmir. Curfew violators and other anti-socials have been given a lot more care than anywhere else in the world.
