NEW DELHI: Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj on Saturday said Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif must know that "Kashmir can never become a part of Pakistan".
"Whole India wants to tell Pakistani premier in one voice that his and Pakistan's dream (of making Kashmir its part) will never come true," Swaraj said during a press conference.
The Indian minister also accused Pakistan of backing militants with the help of UN designated terrorists and notorious figures like Hafiz Saeed, in order to turn the valley into a living hell.

"The Pakistani PM says his prayers are with people of Kashmir. I must remind him that Pakistan has never prayed for the people of the valley but has given them pain in the form of terrorism," said Swaraj.
She also condemned Nawaz Sharif's condemnation of separatist commander Burhan Wani's murder and asked him why he described Wani as a martyr despite knowing that he was a part of the 'terrorist group' Hizbul Mujahideen.
Nawaz Sharif, while addressing a public gathering on Friday after his party's victory in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (Pakistan administered part of Kashmir) elections, said: "We are waiting for the day Kashmir becomes Pakistan."
"Their movement for freedom cannot be stopped and it will be successful. You are aware of how they are being beaten and killed. All our prayers are with them and we are waiting for the day Kashmir becomes Pakistan," Nawaz had said.
Following the July 1 killing of Burhan Wani, a 22-year-old separatist commander known for his call to arms on social media against Indian rule, Nawaz had condemned the killing and oppressive measures adopted by Indian forces against those protesting against the killing.

The only solution of Kashmir is plebiscite. Both India and Pakistan rulers have to resolve the issue of Kashmir keeping the interest in front of 1.5 billion population of their countries. the majority of indo-pak population is drowning in the river of poverty and insecurity due to this problem of kashmir. the rulers of both the countries must resolve it for the betterment of the entire region.

UN is a toothless body today. Nothing can change or influence India. This was the case even when UN was a powerful body and India was weak country. now we know the situation. India can never give up an inch of a Kashmir and so as Pakistan on their part. Its better to accept the status quo and move on. Politicizing and Making news out on Kashmir for 70 years and nothing has changed. someone said that if you can't achieve something on a war and you can't achieve on negotiation table. its so true. 4 wars fought and nothing could change. and If Pakistan wants they can initiate one more big war and close the Kashmir chapter.
We understand that root cause for Pakistans's Kashmir cause is water safety for Pakistan. They don't want India to control that. that could directly be worked out by other means. India never stopped water to pakistan even during the war.

The State has received Rs.1.14 lakh crore in grants over sixteen years
Jammu and Kashmir has received 10 per cent of all Central grants given to states over the 2000-2016 period, despite having only one per cent of the country’s population, analysis by The Hindu of Central and State finances shows.
In contrast, Uttar Pradesh makes up about 13 per cent of the country’s population but received only 8.2 per cent of Central grants in 2000-16. That means J&K, with a population of 12.55 million according to the 2011 Census, received Rs.91,300 per person over the last sixteen years while Uttar Pradesh only received Rs.4,300 per person over the same period.
Even among the special category states, Jammu and Kashmir receives a disproportionate amount of Central assistance.

To those baying for the plebiscite that Nehru unwittingly agreed to,
In that agreement, there are preconditions for such a referendum:
1. Pakistan has to demilitarize from the region.
2. India has to demilitarize from the region.
3. Proportion of population has to be same as before.
All of which would be difficult to achieve now. So status quo forever.
