PESHAWAR: The capital city police are mulling to set up a dispute resolution council (DRC) in the Hayatabad locality.

This was revealed by SSP operations Abbas Majeed Marwat while talking to members of the Peshawar Saddar DRC on Wednesday. He said DRC success in the cantonment area had prompted the police to think of setting up the same in Hayatabad.

Mr Marwat said that DRC was aimed at solving people’s problems at their doorstep and save them from the troubles of prolonged litigation.

On the occasion, DRC members briefed the police officer about their performance and said so far about 881 cases of the total 1,076 brought to the body had been resolved. They also said some of the parties were approaching courts even after the issue was settled at the DRC level, which was causing problems from them, while in some cases they did not appear before it despite repeated summons.

SSP Mr Marwat said if a party did not appear before the DRC despite three summons, then police would present him before it. He said police would ensure that all the problems faced by the DRC members were solved.
