RAWALPINDI: A group of 38 Pakistanis deported by Greek authorities arrived at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on Wednesday.

Soon after their arrival, they were shifted to the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) anti-human trafficking cell for further investigation.

An FIA official told Dawn that the deported Pakistanis had gone to Greece through land routes on different occasions, but were arrested by the law enforcement agencies that kept them in detention centers.

On reaching at Benazir Bhutto International Airport, all of the Pakistani illegal immigrants were taken into custody by the FIA authorities.

The FIA official said 26 deportees were shifted to FIA cell in Gujranwala, 10 to Peshawar and two to Islamabad.

When contacted spokesman for interior ministry Sarfraz Hussain confirmed the arrival of Pakistanis from Greece and said they had gone to Greece illegally through land routes.

He said all the deportees were briefly interviewed by the FIA to ascertain their identification and then handed over to the FIA’s anti-human trafficking cell for further investigation.
