RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Rawalpindi on Friday sent two revenue officials on forced retirement after they were found guilty of misappropriation in land transfer.

Commissioner Azmat Mehmood had been receiving reports that the two officials were involved in illegal mutation of land and ordered an inquiry.

The inquiry committee investigated the case and found Rawalpindi Naib Tehsildar Mohammad Khalid Kamal and Patwari Qazi Mumtaz Ahmed guilty of illegal land transfer.

Proceeding under Punjab Employees Efficiency, Discipline and Accountably Act 2006 (PEEDA), the commissioner sent them on forced retirement.

In another corruption case, two-year service of two Naib Tehsildars of Malikwal Tehsil Mandi Bahaudin Raja Ashfaq Ahmed and Syed Abid Abbas was forfeited.

The inquiry found him guilty of embezzling Rs334,000 mutation fee. The Jhelum assistant commissioner conducted was the inquiry officer who gave personal hearing to the revenue officers. They, however, could not prove their innocence before him.
