GUJRAT: A five-day sixth annual industrial exhibition kicked off at the Zahoor Elahi Stadium here on Wednesday.

The event, jointly organised by the Gujrat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GTCCI) and the district government, was inaugurated by Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) president Abdul Rauf Aalim, DCO Liaquat Ali Chatha and DPO Rae Zameerul Haq.

Around 160 stalls of different industrial and trade companies from Gujrat and other parts of the region, including 30 stalls of food chains, fans, pottery and ceramics, furniture, paint, PVC pipe, light engineering, boutiques and other products have been set up.

Different avenues for the entertainment of children and families have also been provided at the exhibition.

At least 1,000 policemen are performing the security duty in and around the venue in two shifts while traffic police are maintaining a flow of traffic.

The FPCCI president said his organization had asked the prime minister to make amendments to trade organizations rules to enhance the one year time period of FPCCI officials up to two years so that the elected team could perform even better to achieve goals.

He said the tax culture should be promoted as the ratio of tax payers was very low in the country.

He announced assisting the GTCCI for the establishment of an expo centre in Gujrat which is playing a vital role in the country’s economic growth.

DCO Chatha said that the exhibition would provide an opportunity to introduce made in Gujrat products internationally.

The organizers said that some foreign diplomats and prominent local industrialists and politicians would also visit the exhibition.
