SAHIWAL: Around 200 parents and members of the local civil society walked from Five Ways Chowk to the DCO Office in protest against an abrupt fee increase by the Divisional and District Public School (DPS) here on Friday.

They chanted slogans against the school administration. Protesters claimed that fees were increased twice during the current year and the recent increase of Rs800 was unjustifiable.

The parents met DCO Asif Iqbal who assured them that their concern would be addressed and sought a week’s time.

The DCO later told Dawn that he had sought time from protesting parent because the commissioner, who is also the chairman, was out of station and would return after one week.
