KHAIRPUR, Oct 15: Three union council Nazims of the Awam Dost Panel and an identified accused were booked on Tuesday night on charge of the abduction of a councillor.

The case was registered on the complaint of Wazir Chakrani, who alleged that he was returning to his village with a councillor, Mohammad Chakrani, when the accused forcibly kidnapped the councillor.

The complainant named Imtiaz Hussain Mallah, Nazim of union council Naseer Faqir Jalalani, Atta Hussain Chandio, Nazim of union council Bafo, Shafi Mohammad Chandio, Nazim of union council Faqirabad and Misri Chakrani, and one unidentified kidnapper.

Ahmed Ali Jumani, a candidate for Taluka Nazim Kot Diji, emphasizing that the cases filed during the last 24 hours were fabricated, he alleged that the police were not allowing him to move freely.

Refuting the charge of Dr Chakrani’s abduction, Mr Jumani claimed that the councillor was with him as he was also a member of the panel.

Earlier on Wednesday, Mr Jumani said that the police had arrested about 30 councillors of the Awam Dost Panel.

UNFAIR MEANS: The chief coordinator, Khairpur Dost Panel, Majeed Arain, has accused the district Nazim, Khairpur, Nafisa Shah, of using unfair means for the local bodies by-elections scheduled for Oct 20.

He said on Wednesday that vehicles of the district government were being used by the Awam Dost Panel candidates for their election campaign.
