KARACHI: A young man was shot dead in Chakiwara while another man in Baghdadi areas of Lyari on Wednesday, police said.

They added that gunmen riding on a motorcycle resorted to firing near Jhat Pat market in which a young man was critically wounded.

The incident triggered fear and panic among residents. The wounded man was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi where doctors declared him dead on arrival. His identity could not be ascertained.

Lyari SP Aftab Nizamani said the police were probing into the motive for the murder.

In the other incident in Baghdadi, a man was shot dead while a woman wounded.

The police said that 55-year-old Abdul Hakeem was gunned down while his elderly relative Hazara Bibi was wounded in Zikri Mohalla.

The Lyari SP said that the man was killed by his nephew over some domestic dispute. The suspect managed to escape.
