DADU: One more person who had suffered serious injuries in the Khairpur Nathan Shah coach incident died at a Karachi hospital on Monday, taking the death toll to 14.

Koro Khan, son of Shamus, was referred to the Karachi hospital from the Civil Hospital of Dadu in a serious condition on Sunday but he could not survive.

He was among the wedding party travelling in a coach from Dadu to K.N. Shah, which caught fire after it touched a low 11,000-KV wire near the bypass, causing death of 10 people on the spot and injuries to 50.

An injured boy died at a Larkana hospital while two succumbed to injuries on their way to Karachi on Sunday evening.

Meanwhile, a large number of people and PPP activists staged a demonstration in front of the KN Shah Press club, demanding registration of an FIR of the incident against State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali.

Court takes suo motu of tragedy

The Sindh High Court, Larkana bench, on Monday took suo motu notice of the tragic incident in which 13 members of a wedding party were burnt to death near Khairpur Nathan Shah on Sunday.

SHC Larkana circuit Additional Registrar Saleem Shaikh has confirmed to Dawn that Mr Justice Nadeem Akhtar had taken suo motu notice of the incident and issued notices to the deputy commissioner, SP, Sepco-Dadu executive engineer, SHO of Khairpur Nathan Shah and others.
