BAHAWALPUR: The district administration restored the historic fountain at Fawara Chowk on Friday on an emergency basis on the orders of the Bahawalpur bench of the Lahore High Court on Thursday.

Labourers removed dust, mud and plants from the fountain.

Petitioner Faizul Hasan had sought the restoration of the fountain which is 135 years old and as the legend goes, the fawara model was granted by Queen Victoria to the late Nawab Bahawalpur IV.

The late Nawab had installed the model in the chowk situated on the inter-section of Ahmedpur East Road, which led to his Sadiqgarh Palace.

IBU: The syndicate of the Islamia University is complete now as Dr Mahmoodur Rehman, Dr Khalilur Rehman and Badar Habib have been elected for the reserved seats of the syndicate.

The syndicate had been incomplete since 2011.
