ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has accommodated 112 people in Sector I-12, who were among the 680 allottees left without plots in I-14 during its redesigning in 2005-06.

Alternative plots were allotted through balloting to ensure transparency.

“There had been reports that some staff used to make underhand deals with the allottees to give them corner plots or at the main road etc,” said CDA deputy director general (estate and land) Nadeem Ahmed Abro.

There plots allotted to the 680 people in I-14 were either deleted or allotted to more than one person during the redesigning of the sector in 2005-06.

“The plots in I-12 have been given to those who have given consent to be accommodated there,” Mr Abro added. “We expect that around 100 allottees would be adjusted in the I-14 sector also.”

During the balloting, 36 plots measuring 138 square yards, six 166 square yards, 45 measuring 200 square yards and 25 measuring 233 square yards were allotted.

Acknowledging the fault of the civic agency in depriving the owners of their plots in the I-14 sector, a CDA spokesman expressed the confidence that the remaining 470 allottees would also agree to be adjusted in I-12.

Work at I-15 has started and it is expected that the development activities at I-12 will also commence soon, giving the allottees the confidence, he added.
