ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain approved on Thursday appointment of four additional judges for the Peshawar High Court (PHC).

According to an official announcement, the president on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved the appointment of Mohammad Younis Thaheem, Qalandar Ali Khan, Mohammad Ghazanfar Khan and Haider Ali Khan as additional judges for the PHC for a period of one year.

In a separate decision, the president approved appointment of eight additional judges for the Lahore High Court. They are: Ali Akbar Qureshi, Qazi Mohammad Amin Ahmed, Khalid Mehmood Malik, Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad, Masud Abid Naqvi, Shahid Karim, Chaudhry Mohammad Iqbal and Mirza Viqas Rauf.

An official press release issued by the presidency said that the president had approved the appointments as had been agreed to by the Parliamentary Committee on Judges Appointment in Superior Courts.
