ISLAMABAD: Two persons were arrested from Lahore on the charge of attacking the Pakistan Television (PTV) headquarters in Islamabad on September 1, the police said here on Thursday.

The arrests were made during a raid jointly conducted by the Islamabad and Lahore police. It may be recalled that on September 1 some participants of the sit-ins at the Constitution Avenue stormed into the state-run TV building and ransacked it.

A case was registered with the Secretariat police against the suspects.

During the investigation, the police obtained CCTV footages from the PTV and found 70 persons involved in the ransacking. Their photos were taken from the footages and sent to different authorities for identification.

As a result, nine of the suspects were identified and two of them later arrested in Lahore.

The police said the arrested suspects were being investigated to establish their affiliations and motive behind the attack on the PTV centre.
