ISLAMABAD: If the country has seen any major change in power as a result of the ongoing protests in the capital, it is in Islamabad police.

After numerous changes in the top position of the force, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Tahir Alam Khan was appointed as the DIG operations on Monday and also given the additional charge of the inspector general of the police (IGP). The post of DIG operations had been lying vacant since three years.

It may be noted that IGP Aftab Cheema went on leave on August 17 after developing differences with the interior minister. In his absence, DIG Khalid Khattak was given the addition charge of the IGP Islamabad. However, due to his poor performance, the charge was taken from him and given to DIG Tahir Alam Khan.

According to police sources, DIG Khan has the skills to make everyone happy and tackle crisis situations.

They added that he was a good negotiator but tough for troublemakers.
