KARACHI: A policeman shot dead a 35-year-old woman and tried to end his life in a Malir locality on Monday, police said.

They said that Sub-Inspector Haji Khan left the Malir City police station in the morning for the Malir district court, where he was posted as officer in charge of security.

The police said that he met a woman outside a restaurant near the police station and after heated arguments he fired at her with his sub-machine gun and then shot himself.

The woman sustained a single bullet wound in the head and died on the spot. The policeman was hit in the neck and both of them were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where doctors said his condition was ‘improving’.
