FIR lodged against Qadri for 'inciting violence'

LAHORE: Punjab government on Wednesday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri at the Faisal Town police station in Lahore for "inciting violence", DawnNews reported.

The decision to lodge a complaint against the PAT chief was taken during a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and attended by senior leaders of the party.

During the meeting the Punjab Law Department was directed to review the speech delivered by Dr Qadri on Sunday in Lahore during which the PAT chief had allegedly made illegal statements and incited people to attack policemen.

The PAT chief had allegedly asked his workers to attack security forces and kill 15 policemen in retaliation for the death of 15 party workers in June 17 Model Town incident.

Qadri is a common criminal based on his statements. Qadri should be prosecuted for his crime and spend some time in jail. Qadri needs to learn what civilized law abiding conduct is. The police do an excellent job defending Pakistanis from terrorism at the cost of their lives and families. Qadri needs to stay in jail a while until he figures out how to respect the police.

Nawaz brothers have become senile and are cutting their own feets. They should realize that what ever precedents they set up will haunt them in the very near future. First charge will be the murder of innocents in Model Town. They will most probably run away to enjoy their looted wealth overseas but I feel sorry for people like Rana, Saad Rafique and others

I didn't think Nawaz Sharif had any jurisdiction in this matter since it was an provincial issue pertaining to law enforcement within the Punjab province. Maybe there IS some truth to the 'monarchy' slur.

Qadri is asking for 15 bullets to kill 15 Pakistani police for starting what he calls "His Revolution" without any road-map to any destination. His only weapon is gullible-mob that gets easy carry-away just by his fancy-talk. As fancy, or even more fancy than the fancy talk that makes Suicide Bomber kids to blow themselves in hope they are given one-way tickets for self and their "listed" 160 loved-ones! What a shame for following this 21st century Pied Piper!

Every country has the moral responsibility to provide protection for her citizens but at the same she should hold the citizens responsible for their miscreant behavior. How can he tell people to make groups of 500 and enter houses of policemen.Police may have legal permission to search some house but people can not be told to retaliate by attacking policemen houses in gangs.

@Mekal Faruki : I do not understand why you cal him a common criminal : I cannot fault him for being the only one : considering the kind of language Shahbaz Sharif and others used against Zardari was even worse. 1. Nawaz Sharif made same kind of statements when he was in the opposition about the Police. 2. The Lahore Model Town Massacre of Qadiri's followers. 3. FBR sends tax notice to Qadri does not "pass the smell test" actually the agency or rather the officer who sent this could be held for violation of Tax Laws which bars discrimination. This is a grave violation of a state institution if you use it against a political rival.
