Art corner

IT is very nice to see how little kids put their imagination on paper in Art Corner. I love this section although I am way too old to contribute to it. I also appreciate the budding poets who get a chance to showcase their work in the magazine. In addition, I appreciate the YW team’s efforts in bringing out such a nice magazine for the kids.

Animania!

THIS is regarding the article Animania! by Benazir Raz (YW, May 3, 2014). It was a colourful, interesting and wonderful article! I loved it. The poster inside was beautifully created and all the facts about the animated movies were amazing.

All the centre-folds so far have been wonderful! I thank the YW team for giving us knowledge in a superb way!

Importance of mothers

MOTHER’S Day celebration honours mothers and motherhood.

A mother is the first teacher in a child’s life. She sacrifices many things to give the best to her children. It is us who misbehave and don’t realise the importance of this loving relation in our life. But as it is never too late, we should now try to take care of our mother and make them happy.

Young World

ONCE my uncle brought a bag full of magazines and books and gave it to me. There were bundles of old editions of Young World (2002-2005). I was amazed to see these old editions and noticed that YW used to be very colourful, attractive and it had many pages. There used to be many informative, competitive sections such as weekly news, reports of different occasions, around town, interviews of famous personalities, snack-time recipes, reviews and above all Super Sis.

The magazine now is totally different from the old editions. The content is okay but there are fewer pages, which are also full of ads. I think that some of the old sections should be restarted like, Super Sis, interviews and Around Town. And I would like to request the readers to encourage everyone around them to read and also share their thoughts through writing letters. It develops confidence and also develops writing skills. Let reading and writing habits not die out with the advancement in technology.

The importance of a father in a girl’s life

A GIRL is nothing without her father, he is her shelter, her hero, her ideal.

A father is the most influential person in a girl’s life. His involvement and encouragement in his daughter’s life is crucial in the development of her self-esteem. We may not know the value of our father but girls who have lost their fathers because of any reason know the real importance of this relation. Therefore, we should respect, love and honour our fathers as no one can take his place.
