KARACHI: A defiant knock of 65 by Uzair Jaffri helped Hyderabad draw their opening-round PCB-Pepsi Cricket Stars U-16 tournament match against Karachi at the NBP Sports Complex here on Sunday.

Hyderabad, who were chasing a stiff target of 258, reached 189-5 in their second innings when the Pool ‘C’ game finished.

Earlier, Karachi posted 216 after resuming the second and final day of play at 33-2. Hammad Alam struck 78.

Quetta recorded an easy eight-wicket victory in the other Pool ‘C’ fixture with Larkana being their hapless victims at the UBL Sports Complex.

Lahore romped to an innings and three-run triumph against Sialkot in the Pool ‘A’ tie at the LCCA Ground in Lahore.

Ali Zaryab shone with a fine innings of 108 as the hosts collected 282-8 in their stipulated 70 overs after having resumed their first innings at 175-8.

Mohammad Umar then sent Sialkot crashing to 111 all out in the second innings with a rich haul of eight wickets for 40 runs.

Multan also chalked up a big win as they annihilated Faisalabad by innings and 29 runs at Lahore’s Ittefaq Ground.
