KARACHI: Sindh's provincial government on Sunday decided to impose a one-month ban on pillion riding in Karachi citing the recent worsening of law and order situation in the city, DawnNews reported.

The ban would be applicable from 12 am tomorrow and women, senior citizens, children , journalists and law enforcers would be exempted from it.

The government had previously also imposed a ban under Section 144 of the criminal procedure code (CrPC) on Ashura, Eid, 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal and New Year's eve, but recently the law and order situation of the city had worsened and activists of political and religious groups as well as law enforcers were targeted in various incidents of violence.

The development comes amid an ongoing targeted operation against criminal elements and outlaws in Karachi.
