LAHORE: A 40-year-old chartered accountant was gunned down by unidentified assailants on Wednesday, Gulberg police said.

Syed Ali Husain Qazalbash was traveling in his car when at Firdaus Market traffic signal two motorcyclists killed him in a drive-by shooting.

Police said the victim’s head and neck received bullets. The suspects fled the scene.

Emergency responders and police arrived at the spot and pronounced the victim dead.

Model Town SP (Operations) Tariq Aziz said the victim, who worked with Syed Engineers, left his Faisal Town office shortly before the shooting.

He said it was premature to initially establish the motive for shooing, but police were working on all possible angles, including target killing and street crime.

The SP said a murder case was registered against unidentified people on the complaint of victim’s cousin Ahmad Anwar.

Police handed over the body to the family after autopsy.
