ATTOCK, Sept 29: A review board constituted by the Punjab government has started scrutinizing the recruitment process of police constables to ensure transparency and fairness.
The two-member review board, comprised of retired session judge Mohammad Aslam and Additional Inspector General Punjab Sarmad Saeed Khan, was setup to check any irregularities or complaints in the recruitment process.
The board once again measured the chest and height of candidates passed by the police here at the District Police Lines on Sunday.
The candidates’ height had already been measured by a three-member recruitment committee headed by DIG Traffic Rana Mohammad Iqbal between September 16 and 19. District Police Officer (DPO) Israr Khan and SSP Range Investigation Board Shaikhupura were also members of the committee.
The review board will also hear complaints and appeals by candidates who had failed or had reservations over the ongoing recruitment process.
After the process is checked and the decision regarding the appeals is made, the date of the written test will be announced. The written test was earlier scheduled on September 22 but was withheld till the review board declared the process fair.
Almost 6,600 candidates had applied for the 276 posts of police constables. The Punjab government has this time taken extra measures to ensure the recruitment process is on merit by putting the police recruitment committee under the check of a review board.
