GUJRANWALA, Sept 16: Gilgit-Chilas police on Sunday night took away two students of local seminaries with them following their alleged involvement in the killing of a senior police officer and released the remaining 20 students after interrogation. Police said both accused identified as Dilber, son of Lashker, and Ataur Rehman, son of Rizwanullah of Diamer-Chilas, were studying at Muzaharul Aloom and Noorul Aloom seminaries.

According to the police, they had informed their accomplices by cell phone about the movement and activities of slain SP Hilal Ahmed who was posted at headquarters in Gujranwala.

When Islamabad police arrested their accomplices through their cell phone calls, they told police about two students of these seminaries. The madressahs were believed to be linked with Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Omer’s teacher former MNA Maulana Qazi Hameedullah.

Police said the administration of the seminaries did not resist the raid and arrest of the students.
