LAHORE, May 24 Pakistan finished second in the AFC Under-14 Football Festival in Iran after crushing Maldives 5-0 in their last match of the event.

It was Pakistans third Format-II match in the festival that ended on Sunday evening.

According to the information received here, Pakistan, led by Muneer Ahmed, found no resistance from Maldives as the green shirts pulled off another facile win in the 33-match event. The event saw Pakistan overwhelming Maldives three times -- 4-0, 2-0 and 5-0 -- while their other triumphs were against India 4-2 and Bangladesh 8-0. They drew 1-1 with Nepal and played s goalless draw against Bangladesh while their lone defeat was against Iran 0-1. Iran ultimately won the event, too.

The huge 5-0 score-line turned out to be one of the best against the Maldives for Pakistan. Maldives national team currently ranks second in South Asia. Pakistan took a 17th-minute lead through Mohammad Bilal. Four minutes later, Ashfaquddin, who hails from Gilgit, doubled it and it was 3-0 in the 28th minute when Mohammad Zeeshan struck another. Pakistan added two more in the second session through Mudassar Iqbal (42nd minute) and it was left to Bilal to snatch his seventh of the competition and second of the night two minutes from time.

Pakistan finished second with 18 points while Iran remained only three points ahead. However, scoring 24 goals in nine matches, Pakistan was the top-scoring side. Iran scored 22.
