LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s NA-122 candidate Abdul Aleem Khan has denounced the Election Commission of Pakistan’s chief as well as all four members for their ‘coward’ decision on his petition to declare the election null and void – alleging that they are getting small favours for their relatives.

He said he would continue haunting the PML-N by pursuing his case in the Supreme Court and urged party chief Imran Khan to visit his constituency to hold protest and launch sit-in against the trio – government, ECP and Nadra.

Mr Khan was fuming with indignation at a news conference at his office on Monday afternoon following ECP rejected his petition under section 103AA, telling him that he should approach the election tribunal “for converting his simple application under Article 19A into a matter of investigate nature and indirectly holding a trial”.

The ECP in its decision, however, allowed the petitioner access to the voter data.

Aleem Khan alleged that the ECP, Nadra and the PML-N government were working hand in glove to bulldose dispensation of justice.

Hinting that the PTI will expose the alleged corruption of ECP chairman and four members, Mr Khan said the commission had made him a “shuttlecock” and avoiding investigating the NA-122 petition.

Taunting Defence Minister Khwaja Asif’s famous quote “koi sharam hoti hai, koi haya hoti hai”, he said the ECP could not get the information that the election tribunal had already dismissed the case telling that it was not maintainable.

Mr Khan criticised the ECP for its decision that some affidavits filed by the petitioner were absolutely false and it could proceed against the petitioner, asking who investigated that the affidavits were false.

He said the ECP members, if they had moral courage, should visit NA-122 and investigate the voters about their affidavits. “If the ECP proved that the affidavits were wrong, I will not only seek apology from the nation but also pay fine and leave politics,” he said.
