LAHORE: The returning officer (RO) for NA-122 by-polls has issued notices to candidates of both the PML-N and PTI for violating code of ethics.

On a petition by PPP candidate Barrister Amer Hasan, RO Zahid Iqbal sought replies from PML-N’s Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and PTI’s Abdul Aleem Khan on allegations of crossing the expenses limit on their election campaigns and violating the rules fixed for publicity materials, etc.

The petitioner pleaded that police were not taking action against the violators of code of the Election Commission.

Meanwhile, regional election commissioner Ahmed Nawaz has written to the district coordination officer and capital city police officer for issuance of directions to tehsil municipal officers and other relevant officials for removal of oversized hoardings, banners and streamers in NA-122 and PP-147.
