The ban of Bollywood action flic Baby by Pakistan's censor board has "shocked" the film's team, IANS reported.
Indian Producer Bhushan Kumar argues that his film, which focuses on terrorism, has been misunderstood.
"Yes, we got a confirmation from my distributor that it [Baby] has been banned in Pakistan. I don't know why this happened. If you watch the film, you will know we are not talking about a country, we are only talking about terrorism...We are trying to figure out what needs to be done" Kumar said.
Actor Anupam Kher, who plays an undercover agent in Baby, similarly argued that terrorism should be viewed as a universal problem.
Speaking to IANS over the phone from Mumbai the veteran artist said, “The film is about anti-terrorism. Sometimes it is important to go beyond territories and understand who is the enemy - is it a country or a bunch of people? There is no particular country that is to be blamed for terrorism. It is all over the world. I feel it should have been shown as it is about a situation which needs to be addressed."

The film also stars Pakistani actors Meekal Zulfiqar and Rasheed Naz.
"It is a pity that the film has been banned despite the fact that it has Pakistani actors in that. In fact, Rasheed has done a similar role in Khuda Kay Liye," Kher said.
Holding out hope that the ban would be reconsidered, Kher added, "Pakistan is a country that has suffered terribly due to terrorism, like the Peshawar attack on innocent school children. A country which is suffering from such barbaric acts of terrorism should have gone beyond.”

@Shazzay : Surprise to hear this . So far I know no Pakistani movies are released in India , leave alone the movie war . Indian establishment won't allow any Pakistani production in India, since we fear they can pollute Indian society . Hindi movies are mainly made keeping Indian audience in mind.

Indians movies must be banned in Pakistan. If we can't show our movies/channels in India, why should they be allowed! Overall they have ruined our culture, traditions and language and we foolishly let it happen.

I the Past the Indian movies were one of the best and i think world best movies counted in the world, but later they started making movies, which depicts nativity, vulgarity, anti Pakistan and then their actor came in Pakistan and gave this assurance that they will not make any Ani-Pakistan movie.
Moreover during present era a part from few movies the movie maker didn't cater for the quality as well as theme, as a result movies lost the value, which their former directors/producer has made, despite so much modern technology.
We do expect to see in future good movies, which should avoid vulgarity and Anti Pakistan, so one can sit and watch with family.

@anil - I am an indian and I have seen a pakistani movie "Bol" in Indian Theatre. I am not sure if "Waar" was released in India or not. However let me say pakistani drama and movies are way better in content and plots than our usual bollywood fare. Our movies might make the money but Pakistanis are pretty good at this craft. If you want to sample some of that, watch Zindagi Channel which is currently airing pakistani dramas. They are really good. Lets give them credit where its due.

Would be nice to see a movie made by Pak producers and actors that is satirical like PK and talk about all the ills that been followed in Pak in the name of religion and status of Shias vs Sunnis.
India must not include Pak actors because they want the business of Pak. Even in PK, the boy could have been from India and instead it was shown as Pak because they want audience in Pak to be happy.
Also Indian youth have no connection with Pak like their elders, they are more focused on studies and how to get a decent life for themselves rather than obsessed with Pak like it was before. Movies should reflect this reality.

Do we have any other topic where we don't fight? I watched many documentaries, Jindagi channel, Bakara kishto pe...all are good. Art is the only channel I see where people can communicate and understand each other. If movies are good then they shouldn't be banned (in both the countries).

I watched baby and there is not even mention of word pakistan. It's just against terrorists. I believe my pak friends would like it if they truly hate terrorism( all kind). I think pak also suffered a lot due to terror. Best regards

The title of the film is over-romantic and it appears the title is chosen to by synonymous with maybe he loves the gun. That's something in music business we heard people making fun of that kind of song. Then it's probably a song with that in the film, too- title song. It's considered a joke in music business which they use music in films, too. Over-romantic music which is all melody is over-romantic and it sells a lot. Over-romantic films by far outselled all the others -film makers learned that early on. The title is trying to be over romantic somehow but it's about terrorism and not the usual maybe so much just all soap opera love stories. I believe the plots in films have gone down the drain and the music industry. On the Nikita tv show they stopped writing their original plans with all sorts of stories and themes and plots and did what the audience liked which was totally over-romantic. Watching the dvd's without a story line and all over romantic stories got boring kinda coz it wasn't much to it. Serious musicians laugh at over romantic music and rock bands often do, too seems like. Still, if we could we'd probably get some melodic 80's cd's online if we could by a couple bands just to listen to. Anyways, some stuff is okay like that, but it gets too silly. We don't even have a tv now or radio and don't want them either.

Film basically ties Kashmir issue to terrorism. Kashmir is about human rights violatins by Indian army. Kashmir is about the right of Kashmiris to self determination. Right decision by Pakistan to ban this movie.

I am wondering if bollywood is out of topic except anti-pakistan movies. I still remember movies showing Amresh puri as mayor of lahore and hero from india entering in to pakistan attacking on jails, army and police swearing on entire country. Another movie hero is saying to pakistani in indian jail that your country is so tinny that if each indian will through a can of water your country will wash away.

It serves right. I strongly disagree with anticipation of both countries to this kind of exchanges. I also oppose the cheap tactics of hiring Pakistani actors in Indian movies just so that movies are released in Pakistan and there will be some commercial profit from the Pakistani markets, Lets exchange, music, art, open liberal, critical and intellectual exchanges. Though provoking film, theater and literary festivals. Bollywood represents the scum of how art is vandalized for profit.

Open defecation is rampant. Seventy percent of India defecates in the open. They sit there out in the open, with the wind on their sails, hiding their faces, exposing their bases, and sitting there in pristine glory -- 70 percent of India. And if you look at the world total, 60 percent of all the crap that is thrown into the open is by Indians. A fantastic distinction. I don't know if they Indians can be proud of such a distinction.

it has strong anti-Pakistan message. indians tend to blast Pakistan and its citizens even though we are the biggest victims of terrorism. terrorists operating from afghanistan have even killed our innocent children and women. I think Pakistanis have misconception that WAAR was banned in India. In reality, no one bought the rights to release it in India. The movie never made it to censor board of India. Also, not sure what Indian channels are allowed in India but I am sure theyare not news or current affair channels. All of them would just be soap opera channels. But question is, did Indian government requested Pakistan to show those channels? Those are private channels. They requested access and Pakistani government agreed. No role played by Govt. of India.

India is not even part of Asian continent. 90% of people in india are dark skinned and share their face features with Africans. It was stated by Indian actress Nandita Das herself. Indians regularly talks about Pakistan, Afghanistan, china to claim their roots in Asia. Google it!

Breaking news. Bollywoood has decided to make movies where pakistanis and Pakistan will be praised (even if totally undeserving) and all their actions in reality will be hidden. This is to avoid the sensitive pakistanis from taking outrage at the ugliness of their realities.
