PESHAWAR: Two people were killed and a woman was wounded when a group of armed men broke into a house at Shaheen Colony near Swati Gate here on Monday night.

The injured woman, who identified herself as Naseem Bibi, later told police at Lady Reading Hospital that her former husband Shamsur Rehman accompanied by his brother Qasim and other persons, including Aziz, Rahim, Jamal, etc, entered her house located in a narrow street and opened indiscriminate fire on her family members.

As result, her present husband Imran and son Saqib were killed and she sustained bullet injuries on chest and shoulder. The woman is under treatment at the LRH.

According to a police official, the woman had got divorce from Shamur Rehman many years ago and brought the children to the house of her present husband. He said that the two had also a dispute over the ownership of a five-marla house.

On the day of occurrence, the accused person had assured her to sit together and resolve the issue. She was waiting for him for a dialogue over the issue, but he instead opened indiscriminate fire on the entire family. The victims are stated to be permanent residents of Agra, Charsadda, and had shifted to Peshawar a few years ago.

“We have registered a case at Peshtakhara police station and are trying to arrest the accused persons on the complaint of the wounded woman,” said an official of the police station.

He said that Mr Imran and Mr Saqib were shot in the head and died due to excessive bleeding, while the woman survived as the bullet had pierced her right shoulder.

Police said that Saqib was son of Shamur Rehman, but had preferred to live with his mother after separation of his parents. In another case, the bomb disposal unit personnel defused explosives filled in a car here on Monday.
