ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Air Force spokesman said one of the country's pilot-less aircrafts has crashed while trying to land at a base near Chak 96 area of Sargodha.

Air Commodore Tariq Mahmood said a drone crashed Sunday during a routine flight in Punjab.

Mahmood says the aircraft endured minor damage in the crash and that no one was injured on the ground.

Military personnel reached the crash site as a probe into the incident went underway.

Pakistan's military uses locally made drones for surveillance as it fights the Taliban and militant insurgency.

The US also conducts drone strikes on suspected militants in the country, a source of tension between Washington and Islamabad.

The US strikes had seen a six-month lull until a recent Pakistani military offensive in its North Waziristan tribal region against militants following an attack on Karachi's international airport and failure of peace-talks between government and Taliban nominated negotiators.
