DSP injured in Hangu blast dies

KALAYA, Sept 8 DSP Hangu City Farid Khattak, who was injured along with three other policemen in a bomb explosion late on Tuesday night, succumbed to injuries early on Wednesday.

With the DSP's death, the number of police personnel killed in the attack rose to two. One of the injured policemen, constable Waliullah, had died soon after the remote-controlled bomb blast near a police checkpost on the bypass road in Hangu city.

Police sources said that a blast occurred near the post at Tuesday midnight. When DSP Khattak, heading a police party, was inspecting the site of the attack another remote-controlled bomb took place.

The DSP and three policemen were injured. The other injured personnel were identified as Hawaldar Taj Malook and constable Wajid. They are under treatment at the DHQ hospital Hangu.

Meanwhile, an improvised explosive device went off at the gate of a Unicef office on the Seydanu Banda road late on Tuesday night. No one was injured.
