`Karo-kari murders against Islam`

SHIKARPUR, Jan 14 Speakers have said that killing on the pretext of Karo-Kari is not only illegal, but it is against all moral and Islamic values.

They were speaking at a one-day seminar on “Karo Kari”, organised by the district police at Gymkhana here on Thursday.

Ms Sobia Agha Pathan was the chief guest while Shikarpur DPO Younus Chandio presided over it.

Speakers were included Madam Sobia Agha, DPO Younus Chandio, Ms Sofia Abbasi, Hizbullah Qureshi, Raees Kareem Bux Napar, Muhammad Paryal Mari, Ms Shamim Vasti, Police Inspector Ali Muhammad Mahar, Naveed Alam Abro, Naseer Ahmed Lodhi, Mumtaz Mangi and Hafiz Ubedullah Panhwar.

They deplored that some tribal chieftains, police and political forces were encouraging people to adopt the negative practice of Karo-Kari to meet their ulterior motives.

The speakers said that some greedy and fraudulent persons were also involved to get benefit from situation.

They killed their rivals on the pretext of Karo-Kari to get the dispute of agricultural land or some other property matter settled.

In some cases they received money against compensation after murdering their women on the pretext of Karo-Kari.

It has become a business, they said.—Correspondent
