HYDERABAD, March 24 The government has been asked to evolve a strategy for bringing an end to terrorism, poverty, unemployment, hunger and price hike along with restoration of peace and tranquility.

This was demanded by the Chairman Markaz Islami Pakistan Allama Maqsood Ali Domki during a news conference at the press club on Tuesday.

Dhomki congratulated the democratic forces, civil society and lawyers on the restoration of judiciary. He, however, regretted the ongoing confrontation between the two main political parties and welcomed the overtures of reconciliation between the two.

He urged the political forces to respect the mandate of all parties and stressed on formulating policies in accordance to the charter of democracy.

He called upon the government to give up policies of dictatorial regime while opposing the demand of mid-term elections.

He deplored targeted killings in Quetta, Dera Ismail Khan, Para Channar, Dera Ghazi Khan and other areas and regretted the failure in catching culprits.

He said the prevailing state of affairs and terrorism had created unrest among Millat-i-Jafria and urged the government to launch a crackdown against terrorists and murderers.

He called upon political and democratic forces to launch a joint struggle against increasing incidents of kidnappings, excesses against minorities, karo-kari and tribal disputes in Sindh.

He said that Islam denounces terrorism, bombing of girls' schools and throwing of acid on women.

FAIR The social welfare department organised a cultural festival in of Tando Mohammad Khan on Monday which was inaugurated by District Nazim Mir Inayat Ali Talpur.

Noted artistes of Sindh, Qadir Bux Mitho and Ustad Gul Hassan Gul and his team, performed at the festival.

The social welfare department from 17 districts of Sindh set up stalls at the festival.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Talpur said that more festivals of this kind would be organised.
