CHARSADDA, April 15: The residence of a woman civil judge was partially damaged in a blast in Shabqadar area here on Monday.

Police and local people said that unidentified persons planted an improvised explosive device at the main gate of the residence of Civil Judge Sanam Taj in Fatmakhel locality of Shabqadar that went off at 2pm. As a result the main gate of the house was destroyed completely while the boundary wall damaged partially. However, no casualty was reported.

Civil judge Sanam Taj is presently posted in Timergara, Lower Dir. However, her other family members including parents are residing in the house.

The officials of bomb disposal squad said that 500 grams explosives were used in the blast.

DSP Zahir Shah, when contacted, said that involvement of militants in the act could not be ruled out. However, he said, the family of the judge had also old disputes and police were investigating all aspects of the incident.

Meanwhile, a sabotage attempt to blow up a mobile van of Khwaja Was police was foiled.

Police said that they cordoned off the area after getting information that an IED was planted on Khwaja Was-Shabaqadar Road by unidentified persons.

They said that officials of bomb disposal squad were called and they defused the IED.

Officials said that the IED weighed five kilograms. Police lodged FIR against unidentified persons and started investigation.
