TAXILA, April 6: Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) stalwart Ch Nisar Ali Khan, defended allegations against him, and the decision of his nomination papers will be announced on Sunday.

Earlier, Tanveer Iqbal and Iqrar Shah, the counsel of Ghulam Sarwar Khan from the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, had pointed out that Mr Nisar’s nomination papers regarding his religious affiliations had been left blank.

They had also alleged that Mr Nisar had failed to declare all his assets, upon which Ch Nisar was asked to appear before court on Saturday.

Responding to the allegations, Mr Nisar clarified that he was a practicing Muslim and believed that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was the last prophet. Regarding the objections raised on his assets, he said the nomination papers had asked for assets up to June 2012.

The poultry farm in question was still under construction and would be shown in the assets of the next fiscal year, Ch Nisar maintained. The returning officer had no further inquiries.

Ch Nisar also declared before the retuning officer Malik Saeed Awan that he endorsed all rules as per the constitution and had complete belief in Islam.

The court has reserved its judgment on the objections raised and would give the final decision on Sunday.

The judicial complex Taxila witnessed severe tension between the highly charged supporters of PML-N and the Sarwar Khan group, when Ch Nisar Ali appeared before court.

Charged supporters from both sides raised slogans against each other as supporters of Ghulam Sarwar Khan besieged Ch Nisar’s vehicle for almost 40minutes, preventing him from appearing in the court.

A minor clash followed, but any major mishap was averted by the timely intervention of the police and leaders of both sides. — Correspondent
