ISLAMABAD: President of a coalition party of the ruling PPP and member of the parliamentary committee tasked to come up with new caretaker PM Wednesday discussed the issue with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

During their telephonic conversation, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain discussed the appointment of the caretaker prime minister and overall political situation in the country with Rehman.

According to a private TV channel, Fazlur Rehman had earlier expressed reservations over Leader of the Opposition in the NA Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s decision to withdraw the name of Justice (retd) Shakirullah Jan from the list of the opposition's nominees for caretaker PM.

Chaudhry Shujaat is part of an eight member parliamentary committee which has been formed for the appointment of the caretaker prime minister.

If the committee fails to reach a consensus, the matter will be sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) which will then decide on a name within two days.
