SANGHAR, March 19: The district administration has declared a holiday on Wednesday within its jurisdiction on account of the death anniversary of Pir Syed Sibghatullah Shah, who was hanged till death in the Hyderabad Central Jail on this day in 1943 for leading a popular revolt by his Hur Jamaat against the then British rulers of the subcontinent.

A notification regarding the holiday was issued by Deputy Commissioner Sikandar Ali Khushik on Tuesday.

The Hur Historical Society has organised a programme at the Sanghar Press Club on the day to commemorate the anniversary.

Historians, researchers and other scholars will shed light on the life and role of Pir Sibghatullah Shah — commonly known as Soriah Badshah — in the independence movement with special reference to the contribution of the Hur Jamaat.
