MIRPURKHAS, April 30: The Mirpurkhas district and sessions judge set 14 bonded labourers belonging to the Kohli community free on Tuesday after recording their statements.

Kanji Kolhi had a filed a petition in the sessions court two days ago, pleading that 14 f his relatives, including women and children, were being illegally detained on the farmland of landlord Seth Ashok Kumar in Deh 284 of Kot Ghulam Muhammad taluka of Mirpurkhas district.

The petitioner stated that his relatives were forced into labour and were deprived of their wages and share of crops, requesting the sessions judge to direct the police to get his relatives released.

The Kot Ghulam Mohammad police raided the farmland of Seth Ashok Kumar on court orders and recovered 14 peasants including women and children identified as Ramsi, Prem, Amarchand, Dilip, Hemo, Wanod and Shremti Lela,Shremti Moti etc.
