ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has invited applications from those aspiring for the party tickets to contest the general election.

A party announcement says the applications, addressed to PPP Parliamentarians president Makhdoom Amin Fahim, should be sent to its central secretariat in Islamabad’s G-6 Sector by March 10.

A bank draft of Rs40,000 for a National Assembly seat and Rs30,000 for a provincial assembly seat must be sent with the applications.

The Pakistan Muslim League-N has already invited such applications by March 5 on a form to be obtained from the party’s Model Town office in Lahore, central secretariat in Islamabad and provincial offices in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. The party has also put the form on its website for downloading.

The candidates for the PML-N tickets have been asked to provide details of their previous political affiliations, date of joining the party, political and social services, if any, role in the struggle for restoration of democracy and previous electoral performance. No such details have been sought by the PPP.

The candidates for the PML-N ticket will also have to justify their suitability for the constituency from where they intend to contest elections.

The party has asked the candidates to attach with their applications a bank draft of Rs50,000 for a National Assembly ticket, Rs30,000 for a provincial assembly seat, Rs100,000 for a reserved seat for women and minorities in the National Assembly and Rs75,000 in a provincial assembly.
