PESHAWAR: Unknown gunmen killed four persons in Badaber area in the outskirts of Peshawar, DawnNews reported.

“Unknown gunmen shot dead four men in Badaber. We suspect they were killed because they were the members of a lashkar (militia) against militants,” senior police official Javed Khan told AFP.

The tribesmen were from the Khyber town of Bara but were living in Badaber and were sleeping when they were shot, Khan said.

The attackers fled from the area after the incident. According to police, the motive behind the killings was still unknown.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.

The bodies were shifted to a morgue for post-mortem.
