GHALANAI, Jan 16: Another child has died of measles while several others have been affected by the epidemic in the remote areas of Haleemzai tehsil of Mohmand Agency.

The three-year-old daughter of Hamzal Khan belonged to the Mell village, taking the death toll from the disease to four in the Haleemzai tehsil in two weeks.

Residents of Babi Khel village complained that up till now no health team had visited the area.

However, when contacted agency surgeon Dr Dawood Khan told Dawn that he had visited the affected areas in Haleemzai and ordered vaccination of the children.

PROTEST: The workers and local leaders of Pakistan People’s Party on Wednesday blocked the main Bajaur-Peshawar road in protest against the apex court order for arrest of Prime Minister Raja Parvez Asharaf.

The PPP Mohmand chapter president Dr Farooq Afzal and PPP Fata vice-president Jangrez Khan addressed the workers rally in front of the Mohmand Press Club. They termed the decision a plot to derail democracy. The protesters chanted pro-Zardari and Raja slogans. They said the PPP leaders and workers had rendered sacrifices for restoration of democracy and will continue the same mission of party leaders in future too.
