Interior Minister Rehman Malik. — File photo

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik on Tuesday said anyone providing information on the whereabouts of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan would be awarded rupees 200 million, DawnNews reported.

Speaking to media representatives in Islamabad, Malik said Ehsan was working for foreign elements and vowed to soon reveal all on the TTP spokesman.

The minister added that the TTP was a divided organisation and now constituted of various groups, including the Waliur Rehman faction, the Hakimullah Mehsud group and other small factions.

Malik moreover questioned as to what kind of shariah the TTP spokesman wanted to enforce in the country which legitimised the killings of innocent civilians and sanctioned suicide bombings.

He said "terrorists" were defaming the religion and shariah for money, adding that, the government had struck a peace agreement with the Taliban in Swat which the latter had themselves violated.

Malik added that if "terrorists and miscreants" surrendered and gave up their weapons, the government could consider giving them amnesty.

Mr. Malik wise-up. Ehsan might be living right next door to you, just like Osama was, under the protection of some higher up. Or in the words of Mr. Cowasjee, SALAA open your eyes and your mind.
Milan Nov 27, 2012 01:34pm
If this much money is offered Ehsanullah Ehsan himself will come and collect it.
raika45 Nov 27, 2012 12:00pm
Why is that when the government finds it's self "impotent' to stem violence, the "foreign elements" click into it's vocabulary?
Sandip Nov 27, 2012 12:10pm
You have Rs. 200 million to capture TTP terrorist hiding and no funding to procecute terrorist who are openly running around leading terrorist organization? double face?
Wajid Nov 27, 2012 12:51pm
In reply to Mr bansal, In Islam Religion is our Politics, Islam never believe on coward politics and the one prevailing here is the remains of Imperialism. Islam is also no linkage with Talibanization as Rasool e Islam SAWW spread ISLAM through Love and Peace. Islam teaches lesson of Tolerance and the meaning of Islam is to enter in to Peace. Iqbal R.A also states 'Juda ho Deen Siyasat say to Rah jati hay Changezi'

In other words: "We give up!!"

Mr. Malik, for once please have the guts to speak out, We Pakistanis are really sick of hearing phrases like: "will reveal at appropriate time" OR " will reveal soon" - what are you afraid of - or is it just a political gimmick and you have no clue yourself
Zaffar Nov 27, 2012 03:10pm
No body is going to come forward to give any information because we all know R Malik will give you a cheque which is bound to bounce in the bank.

first of neither Israel nor Pakistan is a theocracy. Iran and Saudi are theocracies. Vatican is theocracy. Pakistan wasn't made for MUSLIMS alone - remember the mullahs who opposed it?. I fully agree with the rest.
gb Nov 29, 2012 05:11am
MULLAHS opposed the existence of PAKISTAN. period. what the prophet say is not the business of the politics, government, economy, legislation..... stop having dreams about making pakistan a sharia based khalafat.
M.Yaseen Nov 27, 2012 11:37am
Welldone Mr.Malik. Amnesty for the killers.
AHA Nov 28, 2012 12:15pm
It is very easy to twist religion to abuse people. History proves that. Religion should always remaina personal affair.
imransaudi Nov 27, 2012 02:17pm
Failure of Pak army cannot be washed by Mr. Malik. No agency in Pakistan is stopping their terrorism. Should we consider that India or israel will come to save us. What you people are doing all the day?
Syed Shah Nov 27, 2012 01:44pm
There is no room nor can be any room to talk to any one fighting the state of Pakistan. Period. Catch them and give them exemplary punishment as a deterrence to others. And those self assumed political spokesmen of the devils must also be duly punished guys like Munawar Hasan, Fazlurrahman, Hamid Mir, Hameed Gul, Imran Khan and the like. We cannot give up. We have given a very long rope. Stop their fuel, stop their water and all supplies. Do something positive man. How come an individual is stronger than the state? Poor governance gives rise to such situations.
Raoul Ciao Nov 29, 2012 10:03am
Mr Malik, an idea....ask the army.
BanglaDesis Nov 27, 2012 03:21pm
If Sharia is a part of Islam or rather way of Islam, then why Pakistanis, especially ministers are afraid to Implement it......?
imransaudi Nov 27, 2012 02:20pm
Come on Wajid.
khurram Nov 27, 2012 05:05pm
Y dont you try to earn this money urselve Mr Malik. A sincere effort can make u win 200 million easily without any corruption involved.
M.Javed Nov 28, 2012 07:30am
Maybe ask for help for the drones to fine and kill him?
Shahid Masud (@HotMasud) Nov 28, 2012 01:21pm
Offering the reward is an admission by the corrupt rulers that it has failed miserably to protect the people of Pakistan . I agree with some of the comments that this reward money will go into the pockets of these corrupt politicians and will be used to influence the results of the forthcoming elections , May God Bless Pakistan.

Rhetoric talks and then nothing. We as a nation are facing catastrophe after catastrophe and Rehman uncle wants us to listen his lullaby.
Ihtesham Kayani Nov 27, 2012 05:55pm
Why to offer bounty when Mr Malik knows the 'hide out' of Ehsan? Its claimed by him in many statements.
faiz Nov 27, 2012 01:11pm
Reward is a good idea to capture this evil man , who is killing innocent Muslims. Hang this terroist in a ground so others would learn a lesson..
Murrad Nov 27, 2012 01:12pm
Mr. Rehman Malik u r providing amnesty to those who have taken the lives of 25 thousands Pakistanis.....shameless step .........
Khizr Nov 27, 2012 06:14pm
And the doctor who helped in getting Osama killed has been prosecuted by the same Govt. Let's hope we have choice to elect sincere people in the next election and lets also hope we elect the sincere people.
S. Khan Nov 27, 2012 05:34pm
No we are Pakistanis. We never give up !!!

Soon, the igcognizant public would witness a breaking news that Ehsan Ullah Ehsan has been captured or killed and Rs. 200 million would be trasfered to the unknown informer.
Marina Nov 28, 2012 04:52pm
And audit of those 200m will not be possible because informer's identity can not be disclosed due to security reasons.
Masood Ali Nov 27, 2012 06:41pm
yes why ,and why not make peace .like britain with the ira or the spanish etc etc.
Javed Nov 27, 2012 02:05pm
I am surprised he has not ordered a report. Why can't the govt trace the terrorists phone calls to Hamid Mir and the other journalists? And religion should have nothing to do with the business of the state. There are 2 theocracies in the world today, Israel & Pakistan, and look at the state of both countries today.
s.p.bansal Nov 27, 2012 11:23am
I consider religion should be miles away from politics. Problem starts when it tries to control state in the name of religion. Religion is uplifting one's soul and it is totally personal.
M R Khawaja Nov 27, 2012 04:14pm
You see when you release their comrades from Jails in pakistan shows your commitment to fighting these people what should happen is to release them if you want but shoot them dead as soon out of the jails gate bu you do not want to do it as you make money out of it. I bet you know lot of them and their Identity thay are all over in houses of Ji and similer so called relegious parties also in Mudressas Masjids and in your neighborhood .
Muhammad Huzaif Nov 27, 2012 04:23pm
Talibanization is just a rhetoric. We don't know who plans suicide bombings and there is no evidence that whether Ehsanullah has any link with Taliban or not. The question is who is benefiting the most from destabilizing Pakistan.
