TIMERGARA, Nov 4: The security forces raided the Afghan refugee camp No 1 and arrested an alleged member of Afghan National Army and six other refugees, sources told Dawn on Sunday.

Sources said that the security personnel raided the refugee camp during the night and arrested seven Afghans, among them a suspected official of Afghan National Army. A pistol was also recovered during the raid.

The arrested Afghans were shifted to undisclosed location for interrogation, the sources said.

CRICKET TOURNAMENT: Cricket team of Bagh Maidan defeated the Warsaky team in the final of a cricket tournament that concluded on Sunday.

A total of 12 local cricket teams from the district took part in the tournament.

Col Zulfiqar Ali Bhatti, in-charge of security forces in Maidan, distributed trophies and cash awards among winner and runner up teams and best players of the tournament at a ceremony held at Maidan Sports Complex Lal Qila.

Mr Bhatti claimed that complete peace in the area had been restored and rehabilitation work was going on according to aspirations of the local population.

The event was organised by an NGO and the army to motivate youth for sports. Colonel Zulfiqar asked youth to actively take part in games which he termed a positive and healthy activity for restoration of peace.
