PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) central secretary general Muhammad Humayun Khan has called for serious dialogue and political reconciliation to resolve differences between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), saying confrontation would only deepen political uncertainty.
Commenting on the ongoing dialogue between the government and the PTI, he said Pakistan needed peace, political stability and national consensus rather than further tension.
According to a statement issued here on Sunday, the PPP leader said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa could not afford prolonged protest politics, road blockades and continued political uncertainty, as such developments directly affected ordinary citizens, traders and the business community.
He said keeping the doors of dialogue open was the essence of democratic politics and a national responsibility. Political leaders, he added, should rise above personal and partisan differences and make resolution of public issues their foremost priority. The PPP leader said the issues relating to law and order, employment, education and basic public services in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa required immediate political attention.
He stressed the need for improved coordination and an effective working relationship between the federal and provincial governments, saying this could strengthen joint efforts against terrorism and contribute to political and administrative stability.
Mr Khan urged political forces to focus on negotiations rather than confrontation and work towards practical and sustainable solutions to the country’s problems.
He said Pakistan’s strength was linked to political stability, provincial harmony and a serious political approach aimed at providing relief to people.
