LALAMUSA: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira on Sunday said that the government has a clear stance against the drone attacks and considered them as illegal and counter-productive.

Speaking to APP, Kaira said that the government was opposing the drone attacks from the day one and the entire world had also declared them as illegal.

President Asif Ali Zardari has been persistently raising the issue of drone attacks at various international forums, he added.

He said that the government had not stopped anyone from participating in the march of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI). However, the government had taken elaborated security measures to protect the participants of the march, he added.

Kaira said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan should hold talks with the Taliban on the issue of terrorism and the government would support him in this regard. The entire Pakistani nation wants ending terrorism from the country, he added.

He urged the political parties to help evolve consensus to eliminate terrorism from the country and normalize situation in Balochistan.

Imran Khan had said nothing new regarding the drone attacks. President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and the government officials had frequently spoken against the attacks, he said while responding to a question.

Kaira strongly denied the claims of the PTI chief that the march was stopped by the government.

The government had only told Imran Khan of the law and order situation in Waziristan, the minister added.

Meanwhile, Kaira also addressed an open Katchery in his constituency and issued directives for resolving problems of the people.
