LAHORE, Aug 2: Two injured victims of Badami Bagh fruit market blasts succumbed to their wounds at the Mayo Hospital on Thursday.

Naeem, of Shahdara, and Waqas, of Peshawar, were injured among 21 people late on Wednesday after two explosive devices went off in the fruit market.

Mayo Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Zahid Pervaiz told Dawn that Naeem and Waqas died of wounds around between 1:30 and 2am.

He said one injured victim had been discharged while 16 others were in surgical ward, and one each in orthopedic and plastic surgery wards.

He said one of the injured admitted to Surgical ward was in a critical condition.

A CIA police official told Dawn police had included seven suspected people belonging to different religious organizations in the investigation without any breakthrough.

He said though no such militant group claimed responsibility for the blasts, investigators were working on multiple lines, including linking the elements involved in the bomb blasts with the killing of banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, south Punjab, head Abdul Ghaffar Qaisarani in a police encounter in Dera Ghazi Khan.

accident: A five-year-old girl was struck and killed by a vehicle in H-II Block Johar Town on Thursday.

Nawab Town police said Sana, daughter of Muhammad Jameel, was playing outside her home when the vehicle crushed her.

Driver Zaheer transported the child to the Jinnah Hospital and escaped.

The girl died after some time.

ROBBERY: Two robbers shot and wounded a sub-inspector of Punjab Highways Patrol in Hunjarwal police limits on Thursday.

Rana Dilshaad Dogar, who is posted on an Okara Highway, was stopped by the robbers who attempted to loot cash and valuables from him at gunpoint.

Also, some robbers barged into the house of Hussain in Liaqatabad police limits and took away cash and valuables worth Rs800,000.

FIRE: Valuables worth hundreds of thousands were reduced to ashes in three fire incidents in the city on Thursday.

A fire broke out in Faizan Book Store in Urdu Bazaar, burning down books and furniture worth thousands.

A house and a shop also caught fire near Allah Ho Masjid on Sanda Road and Rarianwala Chowk in Ichhra, respectively.

Rescue 1122 fire-fighters battled with the blaze and overcame it after moderate efforts.
