MARDAN, July 18:  Girls have secured top two positions in higher secondary school certificate (HSSC) examinations-2012 of Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Mardan.  The result was announced on Wednesday.

According to the board officials, Hiba Raheem Shiekh of Peace School and College, Nowshera, got overall first position by obtaining 969 of total 1,100 marks and Kiran Habib of Shaheen Inter College, Risalpur, secured second position with 959 marks. Nizar Najam of the Peace School and College, Nowshera, stood third by obtaining 956 marks.

Announcing the result, controller of examinations Prof Shamsul Munir said that a total of 54,946 candidates of both part-I and part-II appeared in the annual examination-2012, of which 13,620 students in part-I and 17,246 students in part-II were declared successful.

In pre-medical group, Hiba Raheem Shiekh got first position with 969 marks, Kiran Habib stood second with 959 marks, while Qurratul Ain of Peace School and College, Nowshera, got third position with 954 marks.

In pre-engineering group, Nizar Najam secured first position with 956 marks, Shahab Ali Khan of the Fazal-i-Haq College, Mardan, second with 943 marks, while Shakir Ali Khan of Khyber Model College, Nowshera, stood third by getting 939 marks.

In general science group, Zubaria Asma of Nisar Shaheed Intermediate Collge, Risalpur, got first position by securing 915 marks, Zirak Khan of Fazal-i-Haq College, Mardan, second with 878 marks and Zeshan Ali Khan of Apostle Degree College, Nowshera, grabbed third position.

In humanities group, Hafsa Anwar of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shaidu, Nowshera, got first position with 870 marks and a private student Shehzad Ali of Swabi district obtained second position with 853 marks. A private student Haleem Khan of Swabi district and a girl student Rahat Ibrahim  of Suffah Model Girls College Kahi Nizampur, Nowshera, got 849 marks to share the third position.

Meanwhile, students of Cadet College Kohat have clinched all the top three positions in higher secondary school certificate examinations-2012 of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Kohat.

The BISE chairman, Noorullah Wazir, held a press conference here on Wednesday to announce the results and names of position-holders in the presence of their parents and teachers.

In science group, Cadet Umer Farooq stood first by securing 984 numbers, cadet Bilal Zeb Qureshi second with 978 marks and cadet Wakeel Hussain Shah grabbed third position by obtaining 972 marks. About 5,952 students appeared in the science group examinations.

Among girls, Sobia Awais of FEF Girls College, Kohat, secured first position by obtaining 937 marks, while Maheel Haroon and Lubna Akbar of Iqraa Public School and College shared second position with 933 marks each. Asifa Khan Afridi of FEF College obtained 923 marks and stood third.

Overall, a total of 31,660 candidates appeared in the examination of which 20,968 were declared successful with a pass percentage of 66.23.

The chairman said that all position-holder students would be presented shields, gold medals and cash prizes at a function to be held at the Chief Minister’s House.
