QUETTA, July 14: A strike was observed in the provincial capital and northern parts of Balochistan on Saturday in protest against the bomb attack on the ANP public meeting in Kuchlak.

At least six people were killed and several others injured when the cycle-bomb exploded near the rally on Friday.

The strike call was given by the Balochistan chapter of the Awami National Party.

Business activities in Quetta remained suspended through the day and roads and streets wore a deserted look.

Markets and businesses were also kept shut in Chaman, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Meezai Ada, Zhob, Shirani, Ziarat, Pishin, Harnai and Loralai.

In Quetta, 10 people, including activists of the ANP and shopkeepers, were injured in the Double road area in a gunfight. According to police sources, the clash took place when ANP workers tried to get some shops closed and the shopkeepers refused to heed their call.—Staff Correspondent
