Malik Riaz - YouTube Video grab

Early Life: Malik Riaz Hussain was born on February 8, 1954 in Islamabad, Pakistan. Many people believe that Malik Riaz Hussain was born with a silver spoon in his mouth; however, the statement is only partially true for him. He was born into a wealthy family but his father’s business collapsed which forced him to start working as a clerical staff at the age of 19.

Twelfth Richest Man of Pakistan: He started off as a small time contractor in 1980s; however, the details on how Hussain, from an ordinary clerk in Military Engineering Service (MES) climbed up the ladder of success and became one of the biggest business magnates of Pakistan are extremely sketchy. All the country knows is that he is the man behind Bahria Town, one of the largest private development projects to have materialised in Southeast Asian region.

Bahria town, which spans over an area of 45,000 square acres, along with its owner invited many speculations and controversies since the time of its construction.

Controversies and allegations: The recent round of controversies which accuses Chief Justice’s son Arsalan Iftikhar to have accepted bribes amounting up to Rs400 million from him, is not the only controversy which mars his credibility.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is currently looking into another application filed by a former military officer Lt-Col (retd) Tariq Kamal, which states that the land on which Bahria town is constructed, and is further expanding, was not acquired through legal means. It is alleged that Hussain has strong ties with Pakistan’s military which assisted him in building a huge empire. Some claims go as far as saying that a handful of the important serving army officers, bureaucrats and lawyers are practically on Hussian’s payroll.

According to the sources and reports, Hussain with the help of Defence Housing Authority (DHA) had grabbed Rs62 billion worth of land from an estimated number of 150,000 people belonging to lower and lower middle income group.

It is also alleged that Malik Riaz, in collaboration with DHA, had grabbed an area of the land of Dadhocha Dam and resold it multiple times under different names. It is alleged that the DHA Islamabad has been receiving money in the name of allotment of plots in DHA Phase I Extension, DHA Phase II Extension and DHA Valley since 2009. Those who got cheated through the DHA Valley project include 110,000 civilians, 41,000 serving and retired military officers, jawans and families of martyrs. Total land in question is considered to be covering 165,000 kanals.

DHA and Hussain are also allegedly accused for keeping the people, who paid for the plots, in dark regarding DHA’s agreement with Bahria Town. Col Tariq said that in 2009 the DHA had “transferred all the funds raised from the public, which were Rs62 billion, to the accounts of Bahria Town”.

It is also alleged that DHA employee who voiced their concerns regarding the dubious transactions and exchange of funds were sacked immediately.

It is assumed that the reason why Hussain was bribing Arsalan Iftikhar and financing his trips to London was to gain influence into the judicial circle and buy the verdict of the charges levelled against him. Arsalan Iftikhar blatantly denied the allegations; however, various witnesses testified during the hearing of the suo moto action and admitted that Hussain had shown them the documents which proved Iftikhar’s involvement in the scam.

Well this is Pakistan, everyday there arises a new issue, and the poor people of Pakistan have to always suffer.
Ghalzai Jun 10, 2012 12:51pm
Get your facts straight, in 1954, there was only one city, Rawalpindi or Pindi in that area. How did you come up with city Islamabad.
Shahid Jun 10, 2012 04:46pm
Appointment of Dr Arsalan to FIA without CSS exam was a balant case of nepotism and moral hazard. Chief Justice should resign on this charge alone.

How can a clerk became Billionor? He is not bill gate who invented some great thing which change our lives and earned money. He should give this formula to the whole country. His journey from backward is now start. Long Live Chief Justice.
naseem Jun 10, 2012 06:10pm
Read carefully what ANM has written 'chief justice is great and honest man'. he is not talking about his son.
Tariq Jun 10, 2012 01:18pm
Pakistan, amongst other deprived nations are more overt in their crooked dealings but it's the same principle in all parts of the world but a little more subtle in the developed world.
ramzanatif Jun 11, 2012 04:02pm
Mr Honorable Chief justice, how your son can be appointed in FIA without clearing CSS, Oh God,i pray to You, to put this nation to the true teaching of islam.i feel like to flee to some respectable nation,?

Bahria Town located behind Sohan Camp is sitting on a communal land of Takhat Pari village. The entire area was a reserve Or RAKH from time immemorial . The area comprised of rolling hills with dense forest having plentiful wild and bird life. Riaz grabed it hands in hand with land department by paying at average of Rs 60000/= per kanal to poor villagers. On this land which he got in pittance, built his Kingdom by Qabza and extortions ,of course with the support of corrupt government officials. He spread poverty by making small land owners of Takhat Pari landless. From this land and from adjoining area our fore fathers earned their living for centuries but now we can watch from distance All Beautiful houses and live in their shadow in deepening poverty. Is it not miserable that after land gone for nothing the people of Takhat Pari and neighbouring villages are working for Bahria as drivers, gardeners, watchmen and their women folk as MASI in the homes of rich and powerful who paid millions to buy a small peace of land, originally grabbed by Riaz in just Rs 60000/= per kanal at average. Mind it this grab is spreading wide and far in that area and small huts a symbol of KABZA can be seen spreading miles. after miles. There is no stopping to it. Those who call it economic development must visit these villages just a short distance away and see for themselves, level of poverty, ignorance and disease inflicted upon them by the rich and famous of my country. In my deep frustration I now take a comfort that as every dog has his day so the day for this dog is getting closer.
asif Shakeel Jun 11, 2012 02:55am
chief justice is great and honest man he is the only good hope in Pakistan corrupt mafia can never ever malign him . all our political parties are doing every thing for only personal interest . here is no sincere with this country (only chief justice iftikhar and Dr AQ Khan are the right person )

Malik Riaz for President. Go Zardari, go. Lets get Malik riaz to replace Zardari.
Rokhan Jun 10, 2012 10:05pm
You are right, CJ should have been aware of his son activities and the way he was making foreign trips. At least he should have inquire about the huge amount of money that his son has alleged to spent on these trips. This is called cheragh tale andhera
AJKhan Jun 10, 2012 09:45pm
Son is making lavish trip to UK, father does not know it ? CJ is between rock and hard place, even if his son is innocent, the cloud of doubt & suspicion will hang over him.As far Riaz Malick, he will stay in London until this storm blows over ,his ponzy schemes is work of his benefactors in higher places including armed forces. 400 millions translates to 4 crores of rupees, how did he pay Arsalan Choudhry, lump sum cash ? Bank transaction are easily traceable.
Kami Jun 11, 2012 07:26pm
Here is what Naeem bokhari wrote about arsalan in his open letter to Cj in 2007. for that he was pretty roughed up by the lawyer crowd: "I am not perturbed that Dr Arsalaan (your son) secured 16/100 in the English paper for the Civil Services Examination, that there is some case against him in some court in Balochistan, that from the Health Department in Balochistan he has shifted to FIA, that he has obtained training in the Police Academy, that he reportedly drives a BMW 7-Series car, that there is a complaint against him with the National Accountability Bureau. My grievances and protests are different. I am perturbed that the Supreme Court should issue a clarificatory statement on his behalf"
M A Muhib Jun 11, 2012 07:27pm
Since the time of Alexander the great, this part of the world is a victim of bribey.

chief Justice integrity is beyond any doubt.we salute him .and inshallah "Jeet hamesha sach ki hoti hai"
Ajamal Jun 10, 2012 11:51am
I do not support any illegal acivity be it son of CJ or any one else. But I appreciate Malik Riaz Hussain for delivering top quality housing to the allottees. Just compare the same with so many private developers and government housing schemes which only robbed allottees of their monies. Bahria Town is a shinning example in addition to DHA.
Ovais Jun 10, 2012 07:14pm
Keep dreaming. Law is made for middle and lower-middle class in our country.
Zulfiqar BHATTY Jun 10, 2012 10:15am
I live in Bahria Town since 2006, I purchase plot in Phase IV during 1996, I know the way Bahria town has developed in Rawalpindi - Islamabad, No other builders has developed any land to match that quality. It has proved that if you and your organization work hard and build the trust of your clients with quality delivery, you get more business. I wish all the success for the management of Bahria Town Zulfiqar
abumamoon Jun 10, 2012 09:59am
agree 100 %
Sach Jun 10, 2012 09:59am
How a person, who can't have a close eye on what is going on in his home, can give justice to whole country?????? Big question on credibility of CJ....
Nadeem Mirza Jun 12, 2012 01:14am
The whole system is corrupt. It is very hard for the righteous and people with good conscience to survive there. We all need to pray that may Allah save Pakistan from all evils internal and external.
krishna prasad Jun 11, 2012 10:13pm
I expect the youth of Pakistan, not to bow to the high and mighty and start a momentum to root out corruption and inefficiency in the executive and judicial systems and voice your concerns as a group in a common platform so that - first of all you are safe and healthy and people take notice of your views and join you all, Unless you guys start some time immediately , if it never going to be cleansed even after 1000 years. Ask the strength from Allah and go fight jointly for your cause and for your posterity sake.
Yahya Noor Jun 11, 2012 09:43pm
All the hot talk end with this... Jis ki lathi us ki bhains.. One who has the power has the wealth.
SAM Jun 11, 2012 08:41pm
it is a big revengeful conspiracy against arsalan iftikhar .basically 2 hit the position of CJ.
Naeem Fakir Jun 11, 2012 08:31pm
I m one of the original purchasers of a 500 sq corner plot. We live abroad, when we came to get custody of our land we were shocked to see that there were rows of apartments already constructed there. We were thrown to phase three and my corner lot was no longer a corner plot. That Sir, is your honest organization that you are touting.
Owais Ahmed Jun 12, 2012 05:38pm
Hi Yes Bahria Town is a good place to live. But the issue is of those who were deprived of their lands and their savings. The issue is why he continued to pay Arsalan Iftikhar or for his purposes Rs 400 million. The reason is obviously some malintention. No one pays for someone else
FAIZAN Jun 11, 2012 10:26am
CJ is HERO and PROUD OF PAKISTAN. MashAllah he is a Great MEN.
Babar Jun 11, 2012 10:09am
Mr. Arsalan Iftikhar has created embarrasement for Chief Justice 2 times and both time it was of severe consequences. I think Chief Justice should resign this time.
Fahad Nazir Jun 11, 2012 10:17am
Really Naeemuddin !!!! How would you know what your son will do in his time?
Atif Javed Jun 11, 2012 10:05am
you are so right, think of those who have been giving him money by putting their own families under financial difficulties. He should not be spared.
IRDurrani Jun 11, 2012 10:01am
Malik Riaz Hussain could not possibly have been born in Islamabad in 1954 becuz there was no Islamabad then
nawaz Jun 13, 2012 06:01am
Pakistan is moral corrupt country. Almost everybody is corrupt in his place whether he is rich or poor. only few percentage is honest and the life of those honest is miserable in the hands of those corrupt.
Murtaza Jun 13, 2012 02:19am
It really makes me wonder why a person worth trillions would worry so much about 34 crore which risks his entire empire? This money is peanuts for him and this is not business! He is very big and successful business man and I doubt it worries him so much that he decided to put his in lion's mouth unless off course someone very big has told him to do so. Considering that Army Chief's brother is his friend and business partner, I doubt that he will bow to Asif Zardari. This is a mother of all conspiracies, hatched by our "Services", they want to come back in power. Well that will definitely mean Zardari days are numbered! It is Zardari who is being damaged by all this, everyone thinks that it is done by Zardari. oops.
Nazish Kamal Jun 12, 2012 01:48pm
I live in Bharia town and would say its the best place in our country. Clean, safe and planned. Good job Bahria town.
Shahid Jun 12, 2012 12:56pm
He had delivered these schemes after snatching lands from middle class at very low prices. First a group of land mafia capture the land say a value of 500000 and then another group will go and buy that land from the owner at 200000. The poor owner knows that he can not get that land vaccated have no other choice other than selling it to this land mafia. Both groups of mafia belong to the same people.
Irfan Jun 12, 2012 02:05pm
A wonderful script worthy of any Hollywood classic....a rag to riches story mixed with conspiracy. It has it all maybe some romance somewhere to top it off. Excellent only in Pakistan
Javed Khan Jun 12, 2012 11:37am
The story doesnt seem that sample as it is in the news. The reallity could be totally different than it appears.
Munir A saeed Jun 10, 2012 09:47am
In 1954 there was no Islamabad. Was he born in area that is now in Islamabad.
Architect Ilyas Khan Jun 11, 2012 06:44pm
Nothing new in this profile of the BARON OF BAHRIA TOWN. Not even a mention how come the scheme be called BAHRIA while a 1000kms away from the sea!! These 'Towns' are nothing but isolated dormitory suburbs , especially Lahore one, without any economic infrastructure to support the lifestyle of its future inhabitants. The commuting distances to their 'mother-cities' of Lahore and Islamabad are vast, congested and impractical with no public transport.
ali khan Jun 14, 2012 02:04pm
we expect justice from judges ..malik riaz we r with u u hve provided us such a great orginization like bahria town . may GOD help u
Humayun Khan Jun 10, 2012 04:13pm
The previous allegations on CJ were never tried in the court. Why Justice Ramday dug up the seriousness of the previous allegations when CJ was fired by Gen. Musharraf? CJ is a clean man but in both incidents his son is the one playing foul play.
shabut Jun 10, 2012 04:19pm
How come a business tycoon who has so many military and civilian connections can be robbed by a 33 year old guy like Arsalan, and that is also for millions and millions of rupees? Regardless of who is at fault I hope this case will expose many belonging to the so called elite.
Usman Jun 12, 2012 01:37pm
Its time for PTI IMRAN KHAN
nig Itlay Jun 15, 2012 05:14pm
All the rich men wants to purchase any body for their goals, so same is done by M riaz. If Malik riaz is so nice man, then why he tried to miss guide Arslan. he knows that, it easy to trap young man after that he should black mailed him for his goal. In real, no one can make money in short time like M Riaz. he is in habit of gaving bribery for his goal. my dear M Riaz is not FRISHTA, by the honest means, no one can make so much mony like now.
umair Jun 16, 2012 10:37am
you people are just looking superficially, the way mr.malik has made a great town and provide benefit to rich class, have u any idea about the millions of people who get deprived of their lands? have you people ever tried to felt their pain? are those people were not pakistani? moreover, if mr. malik has provided a great town, it was not a welfare project, it was a great business project which has made that man trillionaire and that man doesn't care for those people who got homeless, AND YOU ARE RECOMMENDING THAT PERSON FOR PRIME MINISTER OF PAKISTAN.............THAT IS JUST WOW "MOHAMMAD OMAR"
M.Moosa Jun 11, 2012 03:24pm
Not alone. A "C" grader had got admission in the medical school by doing injustice to a student of merit. And there would be so many other activities which we still do not know. Chiragh tale andhera !!!!
AllahWasaya Jun 10, 2012 03:27pm
agreed, but sadly the country where all this is happening is called PAKISTAN not Utopia ;)
Imran Jun 10, 2012 02:25pm
anm is talking about the CJ, not his son. He hasn't said that Arsalan Iftikhar is an angel.
MNIDarr Jun 10, 2012 02:13pm
Mr. Riaz Hussain a good Builder, made people happy, giving food to a good number of poor people daily. What made him to give money to Dr. Arsalan.and for what purpose?
Irfan Jun 11, 2012 04:04pm
Most accurate comments.....
faisal Jun 10, 2012 02:49pm
Nothing will happen. No stone will be turned. No leaf would fall. This is not 'sparta', this is Pakistan. Regarding Riaz Mallik. Fair means and such a big empire! Is it possible? Oh i am sorry wrong question. Is it possible in Pakistan? But its not Malik Riaz's fault. Its the corrupt system. In fact Bahria Town is success story. A beautiful place to live. CJ's son received money; so whose crime is it? Malik Riaz? Sorry man he is just doing his job. He is entrepreneur and visionary man. Should he let his empire fall before his own eyes? Come on, give me break! CJ was unaware of his son's acts of omissions and commissions! Yes that is most interesting. Building empire in short time and no questions asked? No heads turned? Suddenly CJ finds out that his son is using some 'other' means. Sounds simple indeed. No its not.
Lahor_a Jun 10, 2012 01:18pm
Also Malik Riaz and others who planned this entire operation never expected Chief Justice to take suo moto on this one. Their intention was to malign the CJ in press and put him under pressure. CJ did not respond according to their plan. His intention is for truth to come out. Now that has all planners, secret elements to be like a deer caught in the headlights..That is why Gilani is now asking CJ to hear Musa Gilani's case. He is admitting just that.
Shahid Jun 10, 2012 12:18pm
Cj's position is unimpeachable, his track record reflects that he is God fearing that is why he never bowed down to anyone but Allah.Arsalaan's scandal under the circumstances is no doubt a conspiracy hatched but it will not affect CJ's position at all.As far as Malik Riaz projects for development are concerned they are good but this does not guarantee that he is a pious man.
Lahore_a Jun 10, 2012 12:56pm
Is not it a crime to pay someone money to influence the Judiciary? This should be a bigger crime than receiving the money. Malik Riaz is incriminating himself. This also shows that all the registered cases against him have some truth in them otherwise he would not be so anxious to go the illegal way instead of proving his innocence through legal means.
Daniyal Jun 11, 2012 02:56pm
Good one.
imtiaz Ahmed Jun 10, 2012 07:40pm
Let full bench of the Supreme Court say that Dr Arslan is clean and so is his father.
khalid Jun 10, 2012 11:04am
I agree with Sach. How family members were unaware about his prolonged stay in one of the costliest hotels. He might be in touch with his family everyday. He might have brought the costly gifts to home allegedly purchased by him. He was not living in a separate house.
ejaz ali Jun 10, 2012 11:03am
my dear it seems otherwise, " where there is a smoke there is a fire". Dr arslan iftikhar is no angel and please check his career profile u will be surprised.
Iftikhar Husain Jun 10, 2012 12:02pm
It seems that Dr Arslan is a shrued buisness man of high calibre who has made millions in a short period it will not be very difficult to trace his income and where he made this large amount. On the other hand Malik Riaz is in London and his accounts cannot be traced or his accounts are still in Pakistan.
M I T Bercha Jun 10, 2012 10:53am
Malik Riaz you have proven to be a genius of highest order !! You have proven your point which even state couldnt do when it wanted !! You have your required men under the knife now ! Cheers !!!!!
Farrukh Sayeed Jun 10, 2012 10:52am
well beyond all the stories there are some facts about Malik Riaz he avoid bank interest which is very rare for a business men in pakistan, help the needy peoples, engage all the powerful peoples with his qualitites, powerful politician getting benefits from him.... he delivered the projects like Beharia town unique one in Pakistan . Why he raised Arsalan issue is important to know and only the time will tell us the real scene behind the veil.
Dr Shakeel Jun 10, 2012 10:34am
I do not second your idea as a person and as a muslim,Money made from illegal means gets taken away just like how Maliks Riazs father had.Na barkat hai na chan ke neend aour sakoon hai.Trust me
Shahjee Jun 10, 2012 10:38am
the CJ will prove now that justice for all. and all the peoples are equal before the Law. The bench who hearing the case will also do what the law said with fear that the case is belong to the family of CJ, in case they are unable to do justice then I humble request that the case may be postpone till the retirement of th CJ
JAVED AKHTAR Jun 10, 2012 10:21am

Asim Ramzan Jun 10, 2012 08:11am
What can be commented about such a situation in current times when people idealize such filthy acts performed by the so called "Wealthy" can a person make his say regarding truth when he/she gets sacked from the job as a consequence.......people just want to earn money....and lose every thing else no matter what....!!!!! What has gone wrong.........................................Sigh
Zeb Jun 10, 2012 09:04am
Asim you are right. Our social values have changed. Wealth became only parameter of success in our society no matter how one get it.
awaistanveer Jun 10, 2012 09:13am
Malik Riaz Hussain has done what an ordinary man in Pakistan HAS to do in order to get big. You can not climb ladder of success in this country without kicking the one beneath you otherwise as soon as you are about to reach at that top, the one beneath will pull you down in the depths. This is the tail of success in Pakistan where no one has excellence to reach top but wont let others to reach the top either.
Hassan Hakee, Jun 10, 2012 09:20am
Strange heading for the content & subject of the article.
anm Jun 10, 2012 09:22am
chief justice is great and honest man he is the only good hope in pakistan corrupt mafia can never ever malign him .
ABlitzer Jun 10, 2012 09:24am
If there is in fact evidence of graft/bribery in the Arsalan Iftikhar case, that'll ultimately prove to be the last nail in Malik Riaz's business empire's coffin, along with of course, a jail sentence for Mr. Iftikhar Jr. Every active-duty government employee who is on Riaz's payroll should be fired (not suspended) from their job and given an exemplary jail sentence to serve as a deterrent for others.
Dilawar Jun 10, 2012 09:31am
I like the use of word "tail" here.
Dilawar Jun 10, 2012 09:33am
haha. Where was Wealth not a value? It has always been and always will be a value. Don't be so philosophical about it
Dilawar Jun 10, 2012 09:34am
This article lacks depth and investigative reporting.
usman Jun 11, 2012 05:12am
I have personal experience with malik riaz ' s one of the projects "Awami villas" in lahore. He (Bahria Town) has collected all the money from the participants (last installment paid in 2008) but did not handover the villas and are using delaying tactics. I am sure there are thousand of affectees who have paid but did not receive the possession of plot/home. He (malik riaz ) is a kind of fraud and must be brought to justice. He has snatched the money thru his fraudulant projects from lower and middle income/ salaried person.
Suraj Baba Jun 11, 2012 05:13am
The people whom don't think about the cause of work to be done, only think how the money can be achieved, not good. Malik Riaz have acquired his wealth by unfair means and might be he invest his money to use the influence at Supreme Court, if this is true! he should be punished as exploratory that no any other rich person can think to do so. If Chief justice,s son seems to be guilty he should be punished. We expect justice from our honorable judgeship. The verdict will be historic INSHA-ALLAH.
Rashid Jun 11, 2012 05:25am
This is called DAY DREAMING brother, and its a disease in which every sensible Pakistani is suffering
Saleem Jun 11, 2012 08:19am
Nothing is gona change in this country. If even both are sentenced punishment, you will find them out in next appeal. Pakistan is a country where you can hardly trust anybody. Arsalan seems not a gentleman. Already his news related to FIA job raised questions. But CJP has nothing to do with his son activities.
saqueb Jun 11, 2012 05:55am
well if we have to leave everything on God, then wat is the use of having moral and ethical code given to us by the God himself. Mr. Riaz should be directly sent to jail on the charge of bribing judiciary, as he has accepted it on the media himself. if we start forgiving ppl just because they are feeding poor, then we should make every tyrant a hero because in some of the way each tyrant feeds some ppl. pitty on the mentality of the educated ppl who term wrong as right based on some unrelated doings.

A Rehman Jun 11, 2012 06:14am
We have not seen any proofs of piety in respect of the CJ either.

@waseemabbasi007 Jun 11, 2012 06:42am
God almighty does not need money that is made though land grabbing. This is God's justice that Malik Riaz is facing. Every dacoit, every corrupt man can become clean with some welfare projects.. This is not the way..You must earn Halal money then start welfare projects only then you deserve reward from Allah.. Malik Riaz is not an example to follow for our kids..
Asghar Mayo Jun 11, 2012 06:49am
Don't assume son of CJ as criminal. Till today no evidence is produced against him then how we can question his credibility. I wonder
Arsalan Jun 11, 2012 06:59am
Few months ago Bahria Town (BT) management sent bills to its residents about a newly built bridge. the residents were reluctant to pay these charges. They gathered and protested infront of Mr. Riaz's office. People argued that we don't need that bridge and perhaps will never use it then why we pay these charges. Mr. Riaz answer was "In ke gharon ki market value lagwao aur pese in ke moon pe maar ke inko bahar karo". Though every resident is the owner of his land but Mr. Riaz acts like the residents are his slaves.
Mohammad Omar Jun 11, 2012 07:09am
My house is under construction in Safari Villas I, I have selected BT for various reasons like clean and well maintained environment, full security, etc. etc. I know nothing behind the screen. But the present standard of Bahria Town is the ground reality which counts and no body can deny that. I will recommend Mr. Malik Riaz Hussain in the next Election as Prime Minister of Pakistan, so that whole Pakistan can be so clean and will maintained as Bahria Town.
Paparazi Jun 11, 2012 07:10am
wonderfull observation :).
Hamlik Jun 11, 2012 09:28am
The use of name "Bahria" by Malik Riaz Hussain & co should be investigated."Bahria" means" Naval Forces of Pakistan. In 1990's Malik Riaz Hussain started working for 'Bahria Foundation" a private limited company got incorporated & owend by Pakistan Navy,on the pattern of Shaheen Foundation by Pakistan Air Force & Army welfare Trust by Pakistan Army.Maximum growth of Maliik Riaz Hussain is after collaboration with BAHRIA FOUNDATION.After that collaboration Malik Riaz Hussain started using brand name"BAHRIA" in his commercial activities .Some how with the approval or not, from Pakistan Navy's subsidiary(BAHRIA FOUNDATION) Malik Riaz Hussain started Housing Projects with the name of 'BAHRIA TOWN" which mislead to the people that projects belongs to PAKISTAN NAVY.That was the start of unprecedented growth of company & Malik Riaz Hussain. In legal terms ,ab initio the company is founded illegaly. This all needs to be investigated.

@akhtartak Jun 11, 2012 07:45am
a compromise will be reached before mr malik reaches Supreme court why are people angry against mr malik? don't they now support chief justices campaign against corruption ?? we should salute mr malik for slaughter of this holly cow,mr chaudhary ,who because of his intransigence has brought the whole country to a halt.

Its a trap for our respected Chief Justice through his son.
Arif Jun 11, 2012 09:25am
When the CJ was suspended by Musharraf in 2007, one of the charges was that he got one of his sons appointed to a post for which he was not qualified. Was that son Arsalan or someone else. There were other charges but poor CJ never got a fair chance to vindicate himself as he was re-instated by Justice Bhagwandas and other colleagues (to be sacked again by Musharraf, a few months later) on the grounds that Musharraf's suspension of CJ lacked legal authority. The substance of the charges were never considered on a proper forum. The more important, incidental, information that has come out of this controversy is that Malik Riaz, Baharia Town and DHA have become very very very rich squeezing the resources of poor and the middle class. I would like to suggest that they should be asked to build at least 100000 homes for flood and earthquake affected people of Pakistan.

Now you can imagine the power of this man to do what he wants.

I'm reviewing the comments being posted by all friends on the performance of independent Judiciary and honesty and integrity of Judiciary. While agreeing with some of the comments that how Chief Justice could be unaware of his son misdeed, would some one tell me the performance of judiciary in delivering justice accross the board and by the lower courts?

The story is familiar and nothing surprising. But the test is to conclude this matter and find a closure. The will set an example and many people will be detered. If it goes up in thin air like other matters than its a shame

We are in Pakistan and we can used to say "everything is possible in Pakistan". Malik has done either right or wrong is unquestionable but the way he is trying to achieve his objectives is many fold. Verdict would not be followed if it will be against because our judicial system is not powerful enough to force the punishment as in all previous cases. Public will come out and fight against the ill institutions as public allow the CJ to sit on the chair. Damn realities and poor innocent Pakistanis. We had, have and will continue be slow poison . And there are lot of Maliks !
faiz illahi memon Jun 13, 2012 06:45am
Apex institution that is Supreme Court is important. Indiviuals do matter but not at the cost of institution itself.
Sultan Khan Jun 13, 2012 07:12am
It means only Iftikhar is honest and other present and past judges and CJs were dishonest. Moreover, if he is honest then it is not something commendable. Due to his position he can't afford to be dishonest. Immense power, highest salary, sky-rocketing perks and benefits during service and after retirement and most of all constitutional protection. Go and find there are thousands of government servants who don't have such facilities and protections yet they are honest. They have come silently in this world and will go silently into their graves. No one sings praise songs for them as it is reserved only for Iftikhar who has been giving "Bhashans" on morality to others but did not know what was happening right under his nose. Amazing
Justice Lover Jun 13, 2012 07:22am
And CJP was sleeping , no action was taken then when the land was being snatched from poor owners. Now since his son is involved he will take suo moto against Malik Riaz and will unearthed the truth. Long Live Justice of Iftikhar Ch and his colleagues.
