LAHORE, March 31: A newlywed woman shot dead her husband at Liaquatabad on Saturday.

Quoting the woman, the police said she took the extreme step when her husband forced her to develop relations with other men.

The police arrested Shazia Bibi, a resident of Okara, and seized the pistol she used to kill her husband, Shafiullah, an employee in a local factory.

According to the police, Shafi, a resident of Bansanwala Bazaar, contracted second marriage with Shazia two weeks ago without the consent of her parents.

She told the police she ‘developed relations’ with some unknown men of different areas when her husband forced her to do so.

Shazia shot her husband in the head. The body was sent for autopsy and the police registered a case against the woman.

Suicide: A Hepatitis-C patient committed suicide by hanging himself with a ceiling fan in Mughalpura on Saturday.

Jobless Faisal, 22, of Singhpura had contracted virus some three years ago and had been struggling for treatment since then.

Quoting his family, the police said Faisal took this step owing to protracted illness. The body was handed over to the family after legal formalities.
